CHRISTIAN fundamentalists in the US have been growing ever more hysterical over the Boys Scouts of America’s recent vote to lift its ban on openly-gay members – although, bizarrely, adults scouts remain barred.

Now we learn from this report that some local churches say they will no longer allow Boy Scout troops to meet on their premises.

First Baptist Church of Helena Pastor Greg Walker is one of the church leaders unhappy with the decision to allow openly gay scouts. He said:

It’s hard on a personal level to say to a troop of young boys who have done nothing wrong and to the leaders, ‘You’re not welcome here’.

But he claims that’s exactly what he has to do.

I didn’t make the decision, Boy Scouts of America did.

So Troop Number 2 will no longer be able to meet at the church.

The bigoted numbskull added:

It’s an issue as a church pastor and Christian that I can’t allow a group to openly support a sinful lifestyle under the umbrella of First Baptist Helena.

In a written statement on the decision to now allow troops to meet at certain churches, the Greater Alabama Council of Boy Scouts said:

Early on in this process we decided to make a very strong commitment that if something like this did come up we would continue to support our units in finding and having somewhere to meet.
