When heroes pass, especially ones that kept the light of conscience and reason so bright for our collective paths; sadness seems inadequate to express the loss we all now recognize. Gore Vidal RIP – Thomas Hampson.
THIS one of thousands of tributes posted on the internet over the past couple of days following the news that celebrated gay atheist Gore Vidal had died of pneumonia at his home in Hollywood Hills.
YESTERDAY bishop Philip Tartaglia – a thoroughly nasty article if ever there was one – was preening himself over the news that he is to become the new Archbishop of Glasgow. But today he awoke to discover that the Scottish Government had rudely pissed on his parade by announcing the introduction of gay marriage by 2015.
BRITAIN’S Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has pledged to introduce marriage equality and has confirmed that the UK’s coalition government will legislate for it by 2015.
Confirmation came in a letter to British Quakers. In it Clegg said:
Marriage is an important institution based on love and commitment and I believe that it is a twenty first century human right for that choice to be available to all – gay or straight. So I am proud that this Coalition Government has now committed to introduce equal marriage.
CARDINAL Cardinal Keith O’Brien, one of the most objectionable little twerps in the Catholic Church hierarchy, ratcheted up his “War on Gay Marriage” by threatening the Scottish Government with an “unprecedented backlash” if it goes ahead with plans to legalise same-sex unions.
A SHOCKING report due to be released tomorrow by Stonewall Scotland indicates that schools are doing little to combat homophobia.
Stonewall’s investigation is the first-ever study the lives of lesbian, gay and bisexual schoolchildren in Scotland.
Colin Macfarlane, Director of Stonewall Scotland, told the Sunday Herald:
The report shows the stark reality of the situation in our schools today. It is very worrying that only 11 percent of our respondents hear their teacher repeatedly challenge homophobic bullying when they encounter it. There is clearly a major issue in Scottish schools about tackling homophobia.
A CHRISTIAN quack, parading as a “psychotherapist”, has lost her appeal against a malpractice finding by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). An investigation arose following her attempt to foist a “gay cure” on an undercover journalist.
